MACOYA, Trinidad (March 13, 2009) - The U.S. Under-20 Men's National Team found playing the home team was no easy task, stretched to a scoreless draw with Trinidad and Tobago before moving on with a 4-3 penalty kick decision at Marvin Lee Stadium in Macoya, Trinidad. That puts the U.S. into the 2009 CONCACAF Championship final.
FC Dallas player Peri Marosevic gave the partisan home crow something to cheer when he missed his PK, but U.S. Man of the Match, goalie Brian Perk, put a lid on the celebrations with two straight PK saves against the home team. FC Dallas defender Anthony Wallace set up Perk’s game-winning save with a successful conversion as the fifth American kicker. Dallas native Jared Jeffrey led off the U.S. effort with a PK goal, followed by a Dilly Duka goal, the Marosevic miss and Kyle Davies goal.
The U.S. will match up against Costa Rica on Sunday, March 15, for the regional title, while Honduras and Trinidad & Tobago face off in the third-place match.
