In an almost surprise announcement, former beloved Dallas star Tatu announced today that the Dallas Sidekicks are returning to action in November, based out of the Allen Event Center. Tatu will be the coach and the team will play in the Premier Arena Soccer League (PASL) pro league. Tatu will also wear the hat of general manager and co-owner.

"I am so excited to announce that we're back! We have the most loyal and passionate fans, and they are going to be proud of the team we put on the field in November," said Tatu, co-owner, general manager and coach, in a release from the team.

It is has to be a surprise to the many Sidekicks fans still in the DFW Metroplex. But the rumors of a revival of the beloved indoor soccer team have wafted through the air for several years. Some of those rumors have come from former staffers of the four-time champion Sidekicks in the old Major Indoor Soccer League (MISL). Todayís announcement was the first official confirmation.

The team last played eight years ago.

The team released just a little information to whet fansí appetites. To welcome the fans back to indoor soccer, the team has planned several events. First, during one of the first few home games, Tatu's No. 9 jersey will be retired by the team. Additionally, they'll offer $9 walk-up ticket prices to home games.

The best gimmick may be the last -- Sidekick players who score during home games will throw an autographed NO. 9 jersey into the stands, instead of their own.

That is really brilliant. Tatuís jersey ripped off his body after scoring a goal was the prime sports souvenir back in the day. When the team finally quit, for the last time, in 2004, it was playing at Reunion Arena, no longer in existence.

Tatu made his announcement at the Allen Indoor Arena, which is already home of two area sports franchises (the Allen Wranglers and the Allen Americans).

The team will play a 16-game regular season with eight of those games being held at home.

Season Tickets are on sale now and can be purchased by phone at 214-550-6130 or online after May 7. Find the Sidekicks online at dallassidekicks.net, on Twitter @GoSidekicks or on Facebook.
