UCLA’s Bywaters is Women's College Player of the Week

Zakiya Bywaters scored four goals in two games for UCLA last week to earn the nod as Soccer News Net Women’s College Player of the Week.

UCLA senior M/F Zakiya Bywaters is the Soccer News Net Women’s College Player of the Week for the week ending September 16.
Bywaters scored four goals in two games over the weekend, hitting for a brace against Princeton on Friday and following up with two goals in Sunday’s 4-0 win over Pepperdine as the Bruins blew through the opposition at the UCLA Soccer Classic at Drake Stadium.
On Friday, Bywaters connected twice in the first half, after collecting an assist on Taylor Smith’s 22nd-minute goal. In the 24th minute, she chipped the Tigers’ goalkeeper to put the Bruins up 4-0. Two minutes later, she netted her second goal of the game and fourth of the season on a breakaway.
Sunday, Bywaters scored in the first ten minutes of each half. Her game-winner came in the 11th minute, scoring far post after receiving a cross from Caprice Dydasco, and she added a header past netminder Roxanne Barker in the 53rd.
