Dynamo advance to face Sporting KC
BRIDGEVIEW, Ill. – Will Bruin scored two goals to lead the Houston Dynamo to a 2-1 win over the Chicago Fire in the knockout round of the MLS Eastern Conference Playoffs in front of 10,923 at Toyota Park Wednesday.
Houston took the lead in the 12th minute. Brad Davis sent a perfectly placed corner into the box. Bruin connected and headed the ball between the post and Fire goalkeeper Sean Johnson for a 1-0 advantage.
Literally seconds into the second half, Houston took control. Boniek Garcia forwarded the ball to Bruin, who easily shot it past Johnson for a 2-0 Dynamo advantage.
The Fire attacked relentlessly and it finally paid off late in the second half. Alex broke through for Chicago in the 83rd minute, waking up the almost silent crowd at Toyota Park. He rocketed a shot into the back of the net, cutting the Dynamo’s lead to 2-1.
The Dynamo will take on Sporting Kansas City on Sunday (Nov. 4) at BBVA Compass Stadium at 2:30 pm CT. The match will be televised on NBC. The return leg will be at Livestrong Sporting Park on Wednesday, November 7 at 8:00 pm CT.
