Playoff teams whittled down in weekend play
The Jesuit Rangers, top-ranked 5A boys’ team, got a dose of truth serum Friday when the upset-minded Keller Central Chargers held a 2-1 edge well into the second half and had the Rangers tied up 2-2 until just 75 seconds were left in the game. That’s when Alexis Reyes threaded a thunderbolt shot between Central goalie Blake Jett and the near post on the dribble about 12 yards out to the left of the post. He got a perfectly weighted pass from Ranger midfielder Ian Kalis in the middle to his right flank position. He took a couple of steps and fired in the game-winner in a 3-2 result for Jesuit.

New leaders in both girls' poll
New poll leaders are popping out in the girls' rankings as the season winds down. With Richardson Pearce knocking off previously top-ranked The Colony, McKinney assumed top ranking in 4A. Allen also took a leap over Coppell and Hebron in the 5A girls' polls.

Coppell 5A girls retake first place
The only change in poll leaders was in 5A girls, with Coppell taking the lead again from Hebron in a 1-2 back and forth struggle. All teams will be digging in as the last two weeks of the season unfold. Many teams will wrap up district play at the end of next week.

Hebron regains first place in 5A girls
Hebron jumped ahead of Allen in the 5A girls division to retake first place. Coppell moved up with Hebron and Allen slumped to third. L.D. Bell moved into the 5A girls top ten and Aledo climbed into the 4A boys top ten. Arlington moved into the top three among 5A boys' teams.

Plano West, The Colony place four each
Lauren LaGro, the most valuable 5A girls player in Saturday’s championship game, led a selection of four Plano West girls on the All Tournament team selected by the Texas Association of Soccer Coaches.
Six players from North Texas were on the 5A elite list and six North Texas players were on the 4A All Tournament team.

Sixteen North Texas players were named to boys' all-tournament pics at the 2007 Texas State UIL championships.
Lewisville Flower Mound Marcus, 5A state champs and 4A state champs Wichita Falls Rider each placed four players on the list.

The Colony takes its first state title in 4A
ROUND ROCK---The Plano West Lady Wolves broke a four-year title-drought when it ran right over the undefeated Deer Park Deer 3-0 in its thirst to reclaim top-billing as the state’s best high 5A high school team.
In 4A girls action, The Colony proved there is nothing like a first time for anything and the Lady Cougars enjoyed that Saturday for both their team and school as they won the schools’ first state team championship in any sport, beating Friendswood 1-0.

Marauders win 5A boys, W-Falls takes 4A title
ROUND ROCK--The Marauders of Lewisville Marcus vaulted to a number-one national prep ranking while building a 29-0 record heading into the 5A Texas State high school championship game in Round Rock. Getting that 30th win strained the Marauders to the limit, but Marcus finally hoisted the state tournament trophy after a dramatic 3-2 victory over the Plano West Wolves.
In 4A play, Frisco was new to the high school state championship scene, while Rider had one state championship and several appearances in the state tournament in its legacy. But Saturday, the only record that counted was on the field and Rider took advantage of a mistake by Raccoon goalie Joe Walsh with just 2:18 left in the game.
