DONOVAN TO STAY?
May consider extending loan

LIVERPOOL, England----Landon Donovan is considering extending his stay in England, according to the Everton FC web site, but the Los Angeles Galaxy and U.S. National Team captain also feels he’s got an obligation to continue to help Major League Soccer and the sport grow in the United States.

“I’ve been made to feel so welcome and when you’re welcome like that you don’t want to let anyone down. The future is out of my control. I want to enjoy this experience," Donovan told the web site.

“But who knows what will happen in the future. Football’s funny and you never know what could happen.

“If I look back after 10 weeks and say I really want to stay then maybe I can make that happen. If I say okay, it was good, but I’m ready to go then I can go, but for now I’m taking it week by week.”

Donovan signed a long term deal with Major League Soccer and the Galaxy in December. He is scheduled to return to the team in March ahead of the MLS opener.

Donovan has performed well in his first two games with the Tofees, earning a standing ovation when leaving the field late in Saturday’s game.

His performance and attitude in England are in stark contrast to his previous two stints in Europe with Bayern Munich last year and with Bayer Leverkusen.

"There are two reasons I have not left the MLS. One is I genuinely love America. I love playing in America and I really want our league to succeed," Donovan explained to evertonTV. "Some players say it is not as good as other leagues so I am going to take off to play somewhere else. That is fine but for me it is important that 15, 20, 25 years from now our league is thriving. I see the bigger picture in that way. “
