Texas A&M’s Alyssa Mautz was named the NSCSAA National Player of the Week today. First, the Aggies’ Mautz earned Big 12 Player of the Week honor, announced yesterday by the Big 12 Conference office. All she did was score three goals in propelling Texas A&M to a 5-3 win over then-16th-ranked Virginia Tech on Friday. Two days later, she scored the only and game-winning goal in a 1-0 victory over 24th-ranked Washington State. She had the game-winning goal in both games. Not surprisingly, Mautz was named the NSCAA National Player of the Week.

Junior Whitney Hooper provided the heroics by scoring the game-winning goal 3:12 into overtime to give the 14th-ranked Aggie soccer team the win.

COLLEGE STATION, Texas – Portland was floored into losing when confronting the raucous, highly partisan Aggie crowd at the Aggie Soccer Stadium a few weeks ago, but Big 12 rival Missouri had been here and seen it all before and didn’t stumble so quickly. In an action-packed, nationally televised match Sunday, the No. 15 Texas A&M soccer team played to a 4-4 draw against Missouri in front of a crowd of 2,211 on a humid, rainy afternoon at the Aggie Soccer Stadium.
